End of June Update

Our next event is the Tenth Picnic in the Park on Sunday July 17th from 1.00 pm onwards. As usual local musicians will be playing throughout the afternoon; the dog show will be held from 2 –3 pm; there will be children’s activities; lots of local organisations will be here with their stalls; there will be golf and football activities and plenty more besides. So, as we say every year—bring your friends, bring your family, bring a picnic and enjoy a great day out in your local park.

In conjunction with the Picnic the running group, Warley Woods Pacers, will be having a breakfast run on the morning of July 17th before coming on to the picnic. For more information contact Nigel at We are looking for second hand books for the stall at the picnic and also tombola prizes.
If you can help with anything please drop them in to the shop or office as soon as possible.

Following 2 very high scores in our Green Flag assessment we are being ‘mystery shopped’ by the judges this year which means we don’t know when they will come to the site—in fact they might already have been! While a full Green Flag assessment looks at much more than appearance for mystery shopping they judge on appearance, assuming that if it looks good, all the management stuff is working well too. This makes it even more important that we keep the park and woods looking good at all times and if you see anything that needs attention please tell the staff in the shop or office.

If you haven’t been round the Wilderness recently, do try and get there. The flowers look wonderful and the whole area is developing nicely. We also have a new free Leaflet about the Wilderness which you can pick up in the shop at the Pavilion, which tells you about some of the flora and fauna that can be found there. One of the wildflower meadow pilot areas is also doing well with lots of yellow rattle in flower at the moment.

Don’t forget that after the café closes in the afternoons drinks, snacks and ice creams are available from the shop. And finally if you are out in the Woods and suddenly feel inspired to donate, you can now make donations by mobile phone. Text “WWCT22” and the amount you want to donate to 70070. eg WWCT22 £10
