Ash trees and tree diseases

You will have probably heard on the news about the fungus which has appeared in Britain and is proving fatal to ash trees. We thought you might want to know that we have a few ash trees in Warley Woods (11 mature ones) and so this particular disease will not be a problem here, even if it is found to spread from its current sites. There are lots of other diseases which could cause severe problems at Warley Woods which affect oaks and chestnuts. We are aware of these and have been very careful for the last five years about any trees that we buy in or are donated to us. We are on the Forestry Commission’s partners email group and so get frequent updates about the current situation and what to do and look out for.
