Alice – professional theatre on Sunday 16th June
Warley Woods is looking forward to hosting its annual professional theatre event on Sunday 16th June at 3pm. This will be the fourth production brought to the Woods by Heartbreak productions as audiences have always been thrilled by the style and standard of the company – making the event a very special one in the Warley Woods calendar.
Alice – An Extraordinary Adventure ‐ is an adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s inspired and influential masterpiece. Everyone is invited to take part in a very special teaparty and join Alice on an enchanted journey to a chaotic underground world. Meet the White Rabbit, the Mad Hatter, Tweedledum and Tweedledee, and a whole host of other quirky characters! Enter a dreamlike world full of colour, song and rhyme ruled by a crazy, croquet playing Queen with very little heart and a very short temper! So, don’t be late, don’t lose your head, and watch out for a picnic‐nicking Knave who wants your tarts…!
Heartbreak’s ingenious and highly energetic adaptation blends both of Lewis Carroll’s volumes (Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass) to produce a fast‐paced production full of engaging dialogue, inspiring music and magical adventure. Renowned for their award winning open air theatre, this brand‐new production is bursting with Heartbreak’s unique combination of interactive and imaginative theatre style that promises to be a captivating treat for all the family.
Our theatre event is proving to be one of the highlights of our year with everyone who has been before, really looking forward to seeing the next year’s offering. We are trying a matinee this year, hoping more families will be able to come. Heartbreak is a fantastic company that it is a joy to host and everyone loves their style and the way they adapt productions for the open air and a small cast. Bookings are going well, but we still have room for more. We are really grateful to Derek Spires Estate Agents for sponsoring this event again for us.”
Audience members bring their own seats or picnic rugs and picnics if they wish. Drinks and snacks will also be available to buy. The performance will take place, come rain or hopefully shine and starts at 3pm. Cover will be provided for the audience members if the weather is poor. The performance area will be open from 2pm if people want to come early, find a seating spot and have a picnic. The performance area is equal distances from parking on Lightwoods Hill or off Abbey Road, but people with mobility problems or a large picnic to carry will find the journey more level from Abbey Road.
