New Patron for the Community Trust
He is one of the UK’s best-selling travel writers. His book Adventures on the High Teas was the top selling travel book of 2009 and Pies and Prejudice was one of 2008’s top selling paperbacks. His work has been compared with Bill Bryson, Alan Bennett and John Peel and described by The Times as a ‘National Treasure’.
Stuart co-hosts the Radcliffe and Maconie Show on BBC Radio 6Music, as well as The Freak Zone and The Freakier Zone on 6Music, and has written and presents dozens of other shows on BBC Radio.
Stuart has been supporting the Trust for several years now, compering the Picnic in the Park and so it is brilliant to be able to formally recognise this support and hopefully involve him with more of our activities, when he can fit them in to his busy schedule. Stuart has told us that: “Warley Woods is very special to me. It’s my own little bit of countryside on my urban doorstep, a place for me to walk, think, listen to music, try to get fit, as well as enjoy my regular Saturday morning bacon buttie and occasionally even try and improve my terrible golf skills. I am delighted to be a patron”
Stuart Maconie has become the fourth Patron of the Community Trust, joining Colin Buchanan, Professor Carl Chinn and Julie Walters.
