Volunteer Sunday coincides with Easter Day this year. Anyone who wants to join us will be welcome. It is likely that we will be concentrating on doing a litter pick to try and keep the park looking good for the rest of the weekend. Come to the Pavilion at 10.30 if you want to help. Volunteer Monday will not take place on May Day Bank Holiday, May 2nd. Instead there will be a litter pick on Tuesday May 3rd at 10.30 am
to clear up after the Bank Holiday.
On Saturday May 14th Liz Coleman from RSPB and Steve Hodgkinson from the Black Country Wildlife Trust will lead a Bird Identification morning. This will be from 10.30 am until 12.30 pm. Are you interested in the Biodiversity of the park? If you are, and want to look at ways which we might improve this aspect of the site, please come to an open meeting on Tuesday May 3rd at 7.30 pm at the Pavilion. This is the start of a process and if you can’t come to this meeting there are likely to be more in the future, so you can let the office know if you would like to be kept informed of activities of this group.

There were quite a few comments in response to our User Survey about wanting the cafe to be open longer. We talked to Jenny about this and had some plans for trialling evening opening this Summer. However we’ve thought again and instead of the cafe being open late just once or twice a week, we will be providing refreshments in the shop – 7 days a week. This will be from when the cafe closes until the building does at 7pm or later in the week and 6pm at weekends. We have a hot drinks machine (nice coffee too) and icecream and Jenny’s fridge will be stocked with cold drinks, chocolate, home made cake and some sandwiches. We hope this will provide what everyone is looking for “after hours” and it will help the Trust raise funds too.

Warley Woods Community Trust will be holding its special Easter event on Easter Monday 25th April.
There will be an Easter Egg roll down the meadow’s long bank (called the death run in snowy weather) with prizes for the egg-roller that rolls the furthest. If you have a decorated egg, then you can enter the Painted Egg Competition.
There will also be an Easter Egg Trail with clues which will lead visitors through the Woods to the Pavilion where hot cross buns and hot drinks will be available (alongside normal café fayre) and other fun eggy activities. There will be a special raffle for a giant chocolate bunny, donated by Marks and Spencer.
Viv Cole, Trust Manager said “This is our fourth year of the Egg Roll and it has become a really popular event. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the fun – whether you are artistic, competitive, or just want an Easter stroll through the woods.”
Anyone who would like to take part should bring their hard boiled eggs (hen, duck or ostrich are all eligible) to the Upper St Mary’s entrance of Warley Woods at 11.00am. Entry into all activities is £1.
