We were incredibly pleased today to welcome Gurpreet Bhatia, Deputy Lieutenant and The Worshipful the Mayor of Sandwell, Councillor Richard Jones.  Mr Bhatia came to present the Community Trust with a pot which had come from the Thomas Heatherwick's Tree of Trees: a 21 metre high sculpture which stood outside Buckingham Palace as part of the Queen's Jubilee celebrations.  It was made up of 350 trees in pots embossed with the Queen's cypher.

The pots and trees have been given to community groups across the UK in recognition of their work and the pot presented to Warley Woods Community Trust was one of three awarded in Sandwell.  Ours was given in recognition of our dedicated work in tree planting and nature conservation.

It was lovely to meet both Mr Bhatia and Councillor Jones formally at the Pavilion, where the pot was presented to our Treasurer, David Read.  Both were really enthusiastic and knowledgable about the work of the Trust which was lovely to find out.
