Warley Woods Community Trust patron Dame Julie Walters recently described how during her childhood in Bearwood Warley Woods was her ‘sanctuary’ and ‘magical’ and ‘mysterious’.  We know that Warley Woods has been a sanctuary for many people during this unique moment in history.

‘Lockdown Memories’ aims to capture the story of life on lockdown from a community perspective. So when future generations look back at this historically significant moment, they will understand the positive role played by Warley Woods for our community during the global pandemic.

So please share your memories of the woods during the lockdown this spring and summer. Tell us how the physical spaces of Warley Woods have helped you, your family, your friends to cope with all the uncertainty and worry that has resulted from the lockdown. We will add the materials to our archive and plan to create an exhibition in the future.

You can send us your memories in a format that best works for you – pictures, photos, letters, diary entries, blogs, poems, songs, videos or any other form of communication you would like to use, to  [email protected]

If you would like to be interviewed and a recording of the interview kept, we would be happy to arrange this as well.

We hope you continue to enjoy Warley Woods during these difficult times and it remains a haven for all.   If you enjoy your visits, please consider joining the Trust or making a single donation. Our income is going to be significantly reduced by the ongoing situation and we would love to come through this period in a good place to continue our work caring for Warley Woods. Every donation really will enable us to keep your Woods in the style to which everyone has become accustomed!

Thank you for your understanding and support.
