As You Like It - Theatre in the Woods

Folksy Theatre is a not-for-profit company founded in 2009, who tour rural areas throughout the UK. The team of professional actors and directors have a wide range of experience in Open-Air, In-House and touring theatre. They use a mix of live performance, music, multimedia and puppetry, and aim to provide innovative, accessible and exciting touring theatre for all ages.

This year our chosen production is As You Like It and will be on Wednesday 31st July at 7.30pm.

Rosalind, the daughter of a banished duke, falls in love with Orlando. When she is then banished from the court by her usurping uncle, Rosalind takes on the appearance of a boy, calling herself Ganymede. She, her cousin Celia and jester Touchstone, travel to the Forest of Arden, where her father and his friends live in exile. When she meets Orlando again in the forest, she devises an elaborate scheme to find out the verity of his supposed passion for her, and to further capture his heart, through the witty and mischievous façade of Ganymede.

This wonderful Shakespearian comedy about life, love, betrayal, faith and death is filled with Folksy's touch of live music, bold characters, audience interaction and plenty of laughs. Bring along your picnics and friends and family to enjoy this fun-filled production!

This event takes place on the grassed area at Warley Woods near the small bridge on the main drive. Parking at Lightwoods Hill. If you would struggle to make the five minute walk from the car park to the performance area, then please get in touch.

You need to bring your own seating. Hot drinks are available at the interval. We will have some snack and treat foods available. You are welcome to bring your own food and drink and the performance area opens from 6.30pm if you want to grab your spot and picnic before hand.

The production will go ahead whatever the weather, unless safety forces a cancellation or there are legal restrictions on public gatherings.

If you buy your tickets online you will get an email receipt as confirmation and we will hold your tickets (wrist bands) for you to collect on the night. They will be available to collect from the Shop at The Pavilion, if you want them in advance of the event itself.
