On Site Facilities and Access What will you find if you visit? The site is around one third woodland which feels like you are out in the countryside. There is open grassland which is great for games and for dogs to run, and the slopes mean the site is very popular for sledging if there is snow. There is a children’s play area near the Abbey Road entrance and some swings for “older” visitors. We have also have an area called: “The Wilderness” which is in between the golf course and the main park area. This is a haven for a range of animals, plants and insects. The 9 hole golf course is open to all and there are practice nets and putting areas. There are eight outdoor gym pieces of equipment in the parkland. There are interpretation boards at each entrance describing what you might find there and some information and trail leaflets are available from The Pavilion or can downloaded here. There are a number of solidly surfaced paths which are suitable for buggies and wheelchairs. These run from entrance gate to entrance gate, so you can cross the park easily. There are also additional paths with are surfaced with semi loose material which would be suitable for most buggies and wheelchairs but may be harder to traverse. The site is formed by two sides of a valley and some gradients are steep. This downloadable map shows the paths and how they are surfaced. The Pavilion The Pavilion is the public building in Warley Woods. It is frequently referred to as the Club House, or even the Golf Hut, but its official name is The Pavilion. Located by the Lightwoods Hill entrance, The Pavilion is home to the Trust Office, our shop, the cafe, public toilets and our meeting room. The Pavilion is an old building and is built on a slope and has steps outside and in, but we have temporary ramps which can give access to all areas – just ring the doorbell outside the shop and we will put them in place. The Shop The Shop at the Pavilion is where you can find out what is going on at Warley Woods, buy a snack, an icecream, an event ticket, a gift, a book on local history, renew your Trust membership or pay for your round of golf. We can even make a cuppa if the café is busy or closed. All profits from sales in the Shop go to support the maintenance of the park and golf course. So everything you buy helps the Trust do what it does best. You can also buy many of the Trust’s exclusive Warley Woods products online. The Cafe Anajen café, at The Pavilion is the ideal place to visit after a walk in the woods, a play in the playground or a round of golf, so why not pop in for a full English breakfast, home made cake, healthy salad, hearty bowl of soup, tasty sausage bap or a refreshing cup of tea. The café serves a wide variety of tasty meals, cakes, snacks and drinks. Anajen Cafe is managed by Jenny Lake and not by the Community Trust, but we do work closely together. The cafe's phone number is 0121 429 8848 or you can email on [email protected]. Anajen provides the catering for the Pavilion’s meeting room.
