Volunteer with us

Warley Woods Community Trust depends on its volunteers whether acting as a Trustee, helping with maintenance or at an event.  Whether you have one hour to give or many – we hope you will find something at Warley Woods that you can get involved with and that you will find rewarding.

Being A Trustee

The Board of Trustees are members of the Trust who come from the community surrounding Warley Woods. They are volunteers and are voted in by members of Warley Woods Community Trust.  They also act as Directors of the limited company.  They meet once a month on the third Tuesday at 7pm.  Trustees also give time on a subgroup and as we have a small staff Trustees are often key volunteers giving time to support events or other activities.

If you are interested in finding out more about the role of a Trustee at Warley Woods, please contact us and we can arrange for you to meet with one of the existing Trustees so that you can get more idea of what is involved.

Sub-Groups

These are the meetings where detailed work is done.  The subgroups are made up of both Trustees and non-Trustee volunteers.  Get in touch if you would like to visit a Sub-group meeting to see if you would

  • Resources (finances, fundraising, human resources, governance) (4th Tuesday of month 6.30pm)
  • Communications (publications, online presence, social media (2nd Tuesday of month 7.30pm)
  • Site Management (maintaining the park, golf course and Pavilion. (2nd Tuesday of month 10am)
  • Communities (our events, activities and involving individuals and partners) (1st Wednesday of the month 6pm)
  • Environment investigating and making proposals across the organisation to reduce our environment impact and enhance the site for biodiversity (2nd Thursday of the month 6pm)

We also have project task groups: currently working on Picnic in the Park, Santa in the Woods and New Building Development Group.

Maintenance Sessions

Volunteers meet regularly to take on physical tasks on site.  Anyone is welcome at any session.  Come regularly or once in a while – extra pairs of hands always help.  Meet at the office.  Tools and gloves provided.  Wear strong footwear and old clothes!

  • Mondays (first and third of each month) 1.30pm – 3.30pm
  • Sundays (second and fourth of each month) 10.30am – 12.30pm

Wild Warley

There are many ways that you can help with our Wild Warley project - from learning to survey to practical hands on conservation work.  Read more on our special Wild Warley Volunteering page.

Events and other ways to help

There are many other ways of getting involved and volunteering, so there is bound to be something that appeals to you, for example:

  • by helping to stuff envelopes
  • delivering leaflets to your local area
  • helping to organise or run events such as the picnic and Santa
  • doing odd jobs around the Pavilion, or
  • generally using your skills and enthusiasm for the benefit of the Trust
  • if you have a new idea and you'd like to be involved making that happen - please contact us - everything that happens in Warley Woods now, started out as someone's idea (even starting the Trust in the first place)

If you would like to be alerted to when we need particular help, then please register for our Volunteer Email.  We only send them out when we need help and you can unsubscribe at any time.

Corporate Volunteering

We are very lucky to have a number of businesses, both local and national with local offices, who allow teams of their staff to come and give a day volunteering at Warley Woods undertaking maintenance projects.  If you would like to explore bringing a group to help us, then please contact us through our general email address.
