How we're funded Warley Woods Community Trust has to find every penny needed to manage Warley Woods every single year. There is no endowment and no major benefactor. We need to raise around £800 each and every day to be able to pay our staff and basic bills. Put very simply the golf course provides around a third of our what we need, grants vary, but they are around another third and a big chunk of that is kind support from Sandwell Council. Then the final third comes from public support in donations, shop sales, room bookings and events. This last third also does include income from financial arrangements with the cafe, golf professional, coffee van provider and ice cream contractor. We try to keep our income streams as diverse as possible, so that we are not solely dependent on one or two sources, as this could cause immediate problems if one stopped. However we are very dependent on that council grant which it would be exceedingly difficult to replace at a moments notice. We have a savings account (reserves), but we try to keep this for emergencies and investments. We work very hard to maximise our income from individual donors, golf and shop customers as the more we can raise, the more we can spend to make Warley Woods a better place.
