We recently asked members of the Trust if they would like to suggest names for our family of carved bears.  Barclay Bear, our mascot, popped down to see them last night and to tell them the names that had been chosen

Daddy Bear is called Samuel, after Samuel Galton who bought Warley Woods as farm land and changed it into a the beautiful landscape it is today.  Galton Road is named after him.

Mummy Bear is called Lucy, after Samuel’s wife.  She was called Lucy Barclay before her marriage and was from the banking family.  Barclay Road is named after her.

Our boy bear, standing in front of his dad is called Alexander, after Alexander Chance who spearheaded the campaign to save Warley Woods from being built on and for it to become a public park for the people.  Alexander Road is name after him.

Our girl bear, who stands in front of her mum, is called Abi – officially Abigail, but Abi after the house that stood in Warley Woods until 1956.  Abbey Road is named after the house.

Thank you to every member who made suggestions for their names.

If you love our bears as much as we do.  Please think of making a donation to help keep them in honey and their "fur" in good condition.
