It was a nippy morning; the woods were shrouded in a thin veil of cold damp fog. Liz Coleman was meeting up with me to go for a bird spotting walk.

Liz explained to me that she had organised a walk every year for seventeen years to coincide with the RSPB’s Big Garden Birdwatch (29th-31st January). This year it was to be different. instead of the crowds of people interested in birds, it was a mere two, Covid19 had once again conspired to thwart our plans to run bird walks for you wonderful Wooders!

I was not complaining, it meant I could use this time to pick Liz’s brains about the birdlife we have here at Warley Woods, as a self-confessed birder for life and the collector of the data of the 2020 Breeding Bird Survey, it is fair to say she knows a thing or two about the birdlife we have here at Warley Woods.

Here's the full version of our musings on what we saw when we took a walk around our marvellous woods.
